Demon Era
They took her freedom. Her future. Her life.
They should have killed her.
In the neon megacity of Port Jupiter, the corporations are king. They decide what tech you get, what medicine you can afford, where you can live. They win power through manipulation, subterfuge, and murder.
In the eyes of the corporations, Era Delacroix is nobody. She's twenty, scraping to afford her mother's medical care and a better life with her partner, when she unwittingly steps into a decades-old war between corps and finds herself betrayed and unjustly imprisoned in the House of If, a technology-drought prison where the corps send traitors to rot.
Era knows who betrayed her, and after years of curdling hatred, escaping the prison, and discovering a treasure any corp would kill to have, she returns to Port Jupiter. She has a new name and a plan to destroy the lives of the people who grew rich and powerful by ruining hers, no matter what the cost.
Era’s revenge becomes a struggle between her old self and the new, forgiveness and retribution, the love she lost and the one she can’t live without.
And once she pours salt on the old wounds of Port Jupiter, she’ll start a revolution even she can’t control.
What is Demon Era?
Demon Era is a cyberpunk retelling of The Count of Monte Cristo. In this version, the count is a woman who returns after twenty years of imprisonment and exile to a neon megacity to ruin the lives of the people who grew rich and powerful by ruining hers.
It’s anti-capitalist, anti-genAI, anti-billionaire, anti-megacorp.
It’s also queer, violent, and full of angst.
It is very, very pro releasing your rage.
Why a serialized release?
Demon Era is being released serially on both Royal Road and my Patreon, and will later be published as an ebook. This is because I want to give the story a little space to breathe and find its readers. The Patreon chapters will be about a month ahead of the Royal Road chapters, so if you want to read more immediately, that’s the place to go.
My Patreon will also have exclusive bonus content for this and other books, and will be the landing spot for serialization of other books to come.
