MADE YOU UP
Reality, it turns out, is often not what you perceive it to be—sometimes, there really is someone out to get you. Made You Up tells the story of Alex, a high school senior unable to tell the difference between real life and delusion. This is a compelling and provoking literary debut that will appeal to fans of Wes Anderson, Silver Linings Playbook, and Liar.

Alex fights a daily battle to figure out the difference between reality and delusion. Armed with a take-no-prisoners attitude, her camera, a Magic 8-Ball, and her only ally (her little sister), Alex wages a war against her schizophrenia, determined to stay sane long enough to get into college. She’s pretty optimistic about her chances until classes begin, and she runs into Miles. Didn't she imagine him? Before she knows it, Alex is making friends, going to parties, falling in love, and experiencing all the usual rites of passage for teenagers. But Alex is used to being crazy. She’s not prepared for normal.

Funny, provoking, and ultimately moving, this debut novel featuring the quintessential unreliable narrator will have readers turning the pages and trying to figure out what is real and what is made up.

ELIZA AND HER MONSTERS
In the real world, Eliza Mirk is shy, weird, and friendless. Online, Eliza is LadyConstellation, anonymous creator of the wildly popular webcomic Monstrous Sea. Eliza can’t imagine enjoying the real world as much as she loves her digital community, and has no desire to try.

Then Wallace Warland, Monstrous Sea's biggest fanfiction writer, transfers to her school. Wallace thinks Eliza is just another fan, and Eliza begins to wonder if a life offline might be worthwhile. But when Eliza’s secret is accidentally shared with the world, everything she’s built—her story, her relationship with Wallace, and even her sanity—begins to fall apart.

With illustrations from Eliza’s webcomic, as well as screenshots from Eliza’s online forums and snippets of Wallace's fanfiction, this uniquely formatted book will appeal to fans of Noelle Stevenson’s Nimona and Rainbow Rowell’s Fangirl.

"Zappia’s lighter approach to these topics doesn’t diminish the strength of this sensitive and compassionate story or the message mirrored in the themes of the webcomic: there are monsters in the world, both real and imaginary, and without support systems, those monsters can cause great harm." — Publisher's Weekly, starred review

"A fervent celebration of online fandom, sure to leave readers craving an actual Monstrous Sea comic." — Booklist, starred review

THE CHILDREN OF HYPNOS
The Children of Hypnos is a biweekly serial posted Mondays & Fridays @1pm (links below.) It's an urban fantasy about nightmare hunters, their school, the messes they get into with some nasty dreams, and really ridiculous anime-style weaponry.

Emery Ashworth is a dreamhunter. She spends her time fighting the nightmares of mankind with her partner, Wes, the lowest-ranking boy in her class and the biggest pain in Emery's neck. When Emery and Wes are sent to gather intelligence on a rogue dreamhunter, their bickering lands them in the midst of the Dream--humanity's collective subconscious, where real matter warps until it can no longer return to the waking world--pursued by one of the most dangerous dreamhunters on Earth. Traversing the darkest parts of the human mind and hunted by an unbeatable foe, the two must work together to return to their families, their friends, and their lives before the Dream unravels them both.

The Children of Hypnos appears in my second novel, ELIZA AND HER MONSTERS. It's the main character Eliza's favorite book series.

I just saw a review of the book on goodreads and instantly loved it, I was just wondering if you will continue with the story? Will we get to see what happens with Alex in the future? I'll have to wait until may to even read it but there's just something to it that tells me I'm going to love it.
    Thankss (:

  4. Just finished reading this yesterday. I loved it! I thought it was very well written. Even though it dealt with some very heavy topics, I found myself laughing out loud at various parts of the story. I'm a middle school librarian, and I can't wait to promote this title to my older kiddos.

    1. Hi Jeanne! Thank you so much! I wanted to write about paranoid schizophrenia because every time I saw it in movies and television shows, the person who had it was always portrayed as dangerous, and I knew that didn't do justice to people who actually have schizophrenia.

I would love to visit France someday!

  12. Hello!

I'm French and I read your book some days ago. I found it awesome and, yes, mind-blowing.
I wanted to ask you some questions.
Are you schizophrenic? Why did you wrote about schizophrenia?
To come back to the book, I think it's really good and it describes schizophrenia very well. Being schizophrenic myself, I found a lot of similarities between Alex and me. I was sometimes forced to put the book to control my flow of toughts.
It's really well written and, just like Alex, we're always asking what is real and what isn't. And when they are revelations, you really well passed Alex feelings.
    Well that's it.
I'm watching for your other books! Bye!

    1. Hi there!

Thank you so much! I am not schizophrenic myself, no. I wrote about paranoid schizophrenia because when I saw it in media, the person who had it was always portrayed as dangerous, and I knew that didn't do justice to people who actually have it.

I'm so glad you were able to relate to Alex and enjoy her journey. I really enjoyed writing it!

  16. Greetings from Russian reader!)
I have not read the book till the end yet, but now, as there are only 50 pages left, honestly, I hope they'll never end...I just don't want this story to be over at all! The story itself is so touching, deeply romantic, a little bit mystirious and very unusual. I rarely thought how people with schizophrenia think or feel or how hard it can be for them to live among all our stereotypes and prejudices. But I do now. And, surely, the characters are charming. While reading, you feel just the same emotions as Miles and Alex, as if you were close friends or relatives with them. So many times I got the feeling like "Oh, dear...Let me hug you, guys, it will be okay, just hold on!" That's a magical feeling, naturally! Thank you so much for such lovely book, full of all these emotions. Waiting for your next novel to be published!

P.S.Looking forward to happy ending :)

  27. I don't know how dated this book is or how much it matters that i even read it at all. I am struggling for words here. I found myself in the midst of relatable characters and a charming story which had me questioning everything i believed along with alex. Every word had a purpose and every page hurt and was beautiful. The character development, everything. It's my everything. As i read i was circling amost every word because i had so much to say. To think. To remember. My entire copy is filled of my thoughts and feelings most likely inadequatly presented. I am only 15 years old but this book may just be the best book i'll ever read.
