You've probably already seen plenty of other blog posts/tweets about NaNoWriMo so far, so I'm going to skip the details. Basically, I think you should do NaNoWriMo. I think you should do it because hell, someone has to make you write that novel, and there's no better person than yourself. I also think you should do it because you know all those excuses you make about not having time to write? NaNoWriMo is calling bullshit and saying you have plenty of time to write if you fit it in WHENEVER YOU CAN. I think you should do it because it's an excellent writing exercise.
This year, I'm going to write my NaNoWriMo novel while also revising a different novel (possibly two). Also while trying to keep my GPA above 3.7. And studying for finals. And working.
I think you should do NaNoWriMo because I'm doing NaNoWriMo and I like having other people to do NaNoWriMo with!
I think I might bring my wordcount bar back for this, too. And I'll probably do my usual end-of-the-day wordcount posts every day of November.
So there! Obligatory, vague, open-ended NaNoWriMo post! Do with it what you will.
OH YEAH. Who else is doing NaNo? What are your usernames? I am the Unnamed Sultan, and I like adding writing buddies. :D

okay so I'm hoping if I finish this Pokemon game by November I'll do NaNo. not for a new draft, but for SECONDARY lol because damn. obviously haven't been working on that. BUT I'm torn about whether or not I should actually make a NaNo account. thoughts?
ReplyDeleteYES NaNo account. I like it because it keeps me committed. There's no downside to having a NaNo account, unless that sort of thing just makes you feel more responsible about doing what you said you'd try. (Although...that's kind of a plus?) And it keeps track of word count and everything!
DeleteI'm doing NaNo for the first time, but I actually have plenty of time to write in Nov so I'm not too worried about it. I'm writing a fantasy story that I think will be YA, depending on how the themes actually come out. I'm BBBurke over there.
ReplyDeleteIt's weird--I've had plenty of writing time for past NaNos, and yet somehow it's still a strain to get the 50k out in time. (Occasionally...most of the time I'm well past that at the end of the month. >.< )
DeleteI added you! :D
I'm going for the three-peat this year! I'm D.M.G. on the NaNo machine.
ReplyDeleteNice! I added you.
DeleteGood luck :)
ReplyDeleteThanks! :D Are you not participating this year?
DeleteI love NaNo partly for the community aspect of it, but also because of what you mentioned - NaNo calls B.S. on that whole "But I don't have TIME to write a novel!" thing that keeps so many people from writing.
ReplyDeleteGood luck! I'm going to go add you :)
Exactly -- and I forgot to mention the community part, but I guess that kind of came through in me demanding everyone's NaNo usernames. XD
DeleteGood luck to you, too! :D
